The Octagon Club is a service club sponsored by the Vandalia-Butler Optimist Club. Members are students (grades 9-12) who are interested in helping kids and their community.
Criteria for Membership
- Any Butler High School student may be a member of Octagon Club
- Any student will be considered a member in good standing by attending a minimum of 10 meetings during the school year
- Members must participate in at least 2 club activities or fundraisers each year
- Students will earn points for active participation in Octagon Club
Members must complete a simple membership form and also pay a one-time $10 membership fee (per year).
Past activities have included:
- BHS Teacher Appreciation Event
- Assist with Vandalia Freedom Bike Tour
- Candle sale
- Assist with Butler Township Pumpkin Day
- Help raise dollars for “Volley for the Cure”
- Collect items for the Ronald McDonald House

- Participate in fun activities to help kids and the community

- Meet and network with adult leaders in the community while working with the Vandalia-Butler Optimist Club
- Earn points to quality for future scholarships and also for the National Honor Society
The V-B Optimist Club will award a scholarship to one senior student who is a member in good standing of the BHS Octagon Club. More information will follow concerning the award and the application process.
